[ARCHIVED] Rock County Reopening Plan

General Guidance for Reopening Businesses Relating to COVID-19

The Rock County Public Health Department announced Tuesday morning (5/19) they will be terminating their “Safer at Home” Order, effective Thursday May 21, 2020, at 8 a.m. In response to that termination, Rock County Public Health, in conjunction with a Task Force devised of local stakeholders, including the City of Milton and Milton Area Chamber of Commerce, has created a “Rock County Reopening” Plan which provides guidance for the community to reopen safely in a phased in approach. For more information about this plan, please visit the Rock County Public Health website (https://tinyurl.com/y796n3uz).

Although the “Rock County Reopening” Plan is not a legal order enforceable with penalties, the City of Milton strongly encourages our community to review and follow this approach. Additionally, in an attempt to create regional consistency, the City of Milton Administration, the City of Janesville Emergency Operations Center Safety Team, and the Milton/Janesville Fire Chief have created a resource document that outlines best practices and recommendations for businesses within all sectors to consider when reopening. That resource document can be found on the City’s website (https://tinyurl.com/ycqtl4zz).

Additionally, the City of Milton is in the process of reviewing municipal operations in relation to the Rock County Reopening Plan. Information regarding any changes to facility closures and operational changes will be made available as soon as decisions are made.

The City of Milton appreciates the patience and resiliency of our community during this trying time. Although we are moving into this next phase of our potential recovery, we want to make it clear that we are not in the clear yet. We continue to encourage the public to utilize recommended hygienic practices, physical distancing, and adhering to the advice of your medical professionals.
