[ARCHIVED] No Wipes Down Pipes

No Wipes Down Pipes

Important reminder from our Public Works Department: Even though a product may say "flushable" or "disposable," only toilet paper should be flushed.

Other products don’t break down like toilet paper does and can cause issues in private sewer laterals, public sewer mains, and other equipment necessary for the wastewater system to function properly. These products include, but are not limited to, any wipes incorrectly labeled as “flushable,” diapers, cleaning wipes, baby wipes, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, and facial tissue (Kleenex). Save yourself the money, time, and headache of home plumbing issues by only flushing toilet paper.

Issues with the system may result in interactions between our staff and the public that otherwise would not have been necessary if all of our community members were being mindful of what they flush. We especially want to avoid any unnecessary contact in the current environment with COVID-19 concerns and social distancing guidelines.

If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works Department at (608) 868-6914.
