Anissa Welch, Mayor of the City of Milton, has been appointed to the League of Wisconsin Municipalities 16-member Board of Directors. The League serves Wisconsin’s cities and villages, providing advocacy, training, and legal services.
“The League has been a great resource for our local government leaders in Milton. The services they offer are invaluable to ensure our citizens have representation that is informed and effective at governing. I am humbled and excited to take an active role in assisting this organization in promoting a unified voice for our cities and villages across the state,“ Welch said.
Welch is currently serving her second term as Mayor for the City of Milton. She previously served two terms as alderperson for Milton. She has successfully emphasized and initiated collaborative partnerships throughout the City of Milton and County of Rock. Welch has been actively involved in both local and statewide policy issues that have been impactful to the lives of the citizens she serves in her career in Milton, her various volunteer and leadership positions, and as a 26-year Rock County Human Services employee.
The League is determining strategy for the 2019-20 Legislative session and will focus primarily on ensuring that cities and villages thrive and provide their residents and visitors with a strong quality of life including safe and sustainable transportation systems and infrastructure, robust economic development tools, and a fair property tax system.
