With the upcoming potential for snow, we want to remind everyone of Milton's snow related ordinances.
Winter Parking: Per city ordinance, on street parking in the City is prohibited when there is a measurable snow fall in excess of 1.5 inches until the roadway is clear. Vehicles parked on the street during this time are subject to a parking citation. As a change of past practice, Officer's will no longer wait until a car parked on the street has been plowed around to issue the citation.
Those residing or using overnight parking in the business districts on Parkview Dr. (between High and Madison Ave) and Merchant Row may park in the designated snow parking areas. These areas are marked with signs. Any vehicle parked outside those areas during a snow event are subject to a parking citation and towing at the owner's expense.
Snow Removal: Per city ordinance, pushing or blowing snow from a private/business driveway or sidewalk into the street is prohibited. Not only is it against city ordinance, but it's also unneighborly as that snow ends up in your neighbor's driveway.
Per city ordinance, all sidewalks are to be clear of snow and ice within 60 hours of the snowfall. Businesses are required to have the sidewalks clear by 10 a.m. the next day.
