At the Common Council meeting on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, the Mayor and Alderpersons made a public statement about the School District of Milton, and it reads as follows:
The City of Milton Common Council recognizes the School District of Milton is one of the most important assets to our community, both from a quality of life and an economic development stand point. There can be no doubt, the School District of Milton benefits every resident of Milton on a daily basis through the betterment of our children and our community.
To that end, the Milton Common Council supports the School District of Milton's efforts to continually improve the educational experience of our student population. Whether it be through advancements in educational initiatives, hiring and retaining quality educators, or maintaining and improving the infrastructure necessary to provide these enriching services. The City of Milton Common Council supports the School District of Milton.
Additionally, the City of Milton will continue to look for partnerships with the School District of Milton to improve the educational experience of our students and lessen the burden to our tax payers. Together we prosper, separate we struggle.
