The City of Milton Historic Preservation Commission will be hosting a 75-minute program called “Dealing with Stubborn Vacancies Downtown” on September 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Milton House Museum, 18 S. Janesville Street. The presenters will be Joe Lawniczak and Errin Welty from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). Finding new uses for older buildings is challenging in good times and bad. This session will lay out the top reasons for commercial building vacancies in many historic commercial districts. Learn about some of the simple and inexpensive approaches for dealing with problem real estate, such as simple façade improvements, effective marketing efforts, etc. Strategies will be provided to combat each, along with case studies and resources.
Prior to the program, the Milton House Museum is offering free tours to attendees. After the program, the Historic Preservation Commission is hosting a networking reception at Northleaf Winery, 232 S. Janesville Street. The cost for the reception is $10.
