Absentee Voting Options

There are a few options voters have to absentee vote in the November 3, 2020 election:

  • By Mail: Request an absentee ballot be mailed to you by completing the form online ( or by mailing the absentee ballot application to City Hall, 710 S. Janesville Street, with a copy of your photo ID.  The deadline to request an absentee ballot through this method is Thursday, October 29, at 5 p.m.
  • In-Person: You can vote by absentee ballot in-person at City Hall beginning October 20 through October 30 during regular City Hall office hours (Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon).  City Hall will be open extended hours on October 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Email or Fax: Send an email to City Clerk Leanne Schroeder or a fax to (608) 868-6927 with the following information to have an absentee ballot mailed to you.  The deadline to request an absentee ballot through this method is Thursday, October 29, 5 p.m.
    • Name
    • Phone Number
    • Address where you're registered
    • Address where you want the ballot mailed to, if different than your registered address
    • Indicate the election date (November 3)
    • Copy of your photo ID

Voters can also vote in-person on Election Day in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 710 S. Janesville Street, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  The busiest times typically on Election Day are right away in the morning and around 4:30 p.m. to about 6:30 p.m.  If you choose to vote on Election Day, please be prepared to wait in line, possibly outside.
