[ARCHIVED] Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours – 10/31/20, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours - October 31, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The City of Milton set Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours as 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.  This is a change from previous years to allow for additional time and more daylight hours to properly physically distance and take other precautions while enjoying the festivities.  To add to the fun, Mayor Anissa Welch is organizing a community wide scavenger hunt from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Milton Public Library will have a StoryWalk® available outside at the library from noon to 6 p.m., and there will be a virtual costume contest.

Trick-or-Treat

Although the City of Milton sets the time for trick-or-treat hours, this is not an activity sponsored by the City or any other community organization.  Each community member will need to make a decision if they want to participate and at what level.  If you would like to welcome trick-or-treaters to your property, please turn on a porch light and consider alternative ways to deliver candy.  The City of Milton has a resource page on their website available with creative ideas from around the country.  Also consider adding a teal pumpkin to your display if you have non-food items available for children with food allergies.

If you are out trick-or-treating, please wear a face mask or cloth face covering to keep those around you safe.  We also ask trick-or-treaters to be understanding of homes who choose not to participate due to the on-going concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City of Milton asks individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been exposed to someone who tested positive within the previous 14 calendar days to not participate in Halloween activities.  Review the Wisconsin Department of Health Services website (www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/index.htm) for additional information about how you can stop the spread of COVID-19.

Scavenger Hunt

Mayor Welch will hide 80 painted rocks in Tower Hill Park, Lamar Park, Crossridge Park, and North Goodrich Park (20 rocks at each park).  If you find a rock, bring it to the Veterans Park Pavilion, 430 Hilltop Drive, on October 31 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to be entered into a drawing for prizes from area businesses.  Please only collect one rock per child.

StoryWalk®

The Milton Public Library will have a Story Walk set up outside their building.  Take your children on a walk while reading the book Hallo-weiner by Dav Pilkey.  The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

Virtual Costume Contest

The City of Milton and the Milton Public Library will be running a virtual costume contest through social media on October 31.  Participate by adding a photo to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #MiltonWIHalloween.  A panel of three individuals from the community will judge the submitted photos.  The winner will be announced at noon on Monday, November 2.  The prize will be a Halloween themed LEGO set.
