Refuse & Recycling

Johns Disposal is the provider for refuse and recycling collection. Refuse is collected every Wednesday and recycling is collected every other Wednesday. Recognized holidays may delay collection by one day, so it is important to check the collection schedule

Refuse and recycling carts must be at the curb by 6 a.m. on your day of service.  Please put carts out on Tuesday evening to assure ease of early morning pick up. The arrows on the lids must point to the street, and the handles and wheels should face away from the street. Both carts should be within 2 feet of the street and 6 feet apart. Be sure there is 6 feet of clearance with any other objects, especially mailboxes and vehicles. ONLY items inside the carts will be picked up on your weekly service. If you have more trash or recycling than will fit in your cart, please call Johns Disposal for a bulk items collection.

Refuse and recycling carts and bulky trash shall NOT be placed at the curb earlier than 6 p.m. on the evening before the scheduled collection and must be out by 6 a.m. on collection day.

Bulk Items Collection Changes in 2023

Effective January 1, 2023 residents must call Johns Disposal (262-473-4700 or 888-473-4701) to schedule their bulk item collections.

You will still receive up to one collection per month at no additional charge. However, collections will now be made any week of the month – no more waiting until the 3rd Wednesday for pickup.

Bulk items collection includes items that do not fit in your garbage or recycling cart, such as: furniture, extra bags of garbage, tires (up to two per month, maximum eight per year), waste oil (must be in 1 gallon or larger containers, sealed, and labeled), etc.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

Hazardous waste disposal is addressed through the Rock County Clean Sweep Program.
