Running for Office
Do you have an interest in serving your community? Individuals interested for running for City Council/Alderperson may begin collecting signatures for nomination on December 1st. Papers are to be picked up at Milton City Hall and returned by 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2016. The Council election is at the April election and sworn in at the second meeting in April. Terms are two years for Council. There are six positions with three voted in per year. All positions are considered at-large and are not restricted to wards or districts.

The term for Mayor is also for two years, subsequently being on the ballot for odd election years. Papers can be picked up December 1st and must be returned by January 5th.

To run for either Mayor or City Council/Alderperson, you must be 18 years of age and be a resident of the City of Milton.
